Specialises in Forensic Psychology 

Ahu has over 15 years experience in prison, court and private practice settings. She holds a Bachelor of Science Psychology, Masters of Psychology (Forensic), Graduate Certificate in Law and Masters of Terrorism and Security Studies. She is a full member of the Australian Psychology Society (APS) and Fellow of the College of Forensic Psychologists.

My Story

​Ahu employs a compassionate and evidence based approach to her work, emphasizing the importance of understanding psychological factors that contribute to criminal, antisocial or problematic behaviours. She has considerable experience in working with offenders in custodial and community settings specifically assessing for sexual,violence and violent extremism  risk as well as developing suicide assessment and prevention strategies in line with International best practice. Her work experience includes employment at the Team Leader level with Forensic Mental Health Services, and with ACT Corrective Services as the Principle Psychologist. Ahu has also worked at the Islamic Council of Victoria as the senior Psychologist, Federal government agencies and NSW Corrective Services.

​Ahu also specialises in Terrorism and Violent Extremism risk assessment and interventions. She was involved in the assessment and treatment of  hundreds of Terrorist and Violent Extremist Offenders in  NSW and Victorian prison and community settings including developing a program pathway for violent extremism offenders at the NSW High Risk Management Correctional Centre, as well as assessment and treatment of many high profile organised crime members. Ahu is an accredited practitioner and trainer in the use of assessment tools for ideologically or politically motivated violence, and brings a wealth of geo-political, legislative, cultural and professional knowledge to the field of violent extremism and grievance fueled violence.

Ahu is also trained in the use of Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Applied Behavioural Analysis, Exposure Therapy, Imagery rescripting and crisis management. She was involved in the development of a group schema therapy program for ACT and NSW Corrections and has considerable experience in developing and applying systematic processes, and therapeutic group programs, in line with evidence based practices, across a range of correctional settings.

Ahu is an AHPRA Board approved clinical supervisor and is available to supervise 4 +2, 5+1 and Masters programme pathways. She is also endorsed to supervise forensic registrars and secondary supervision of other registrar pathways. She is fluent in both English and Turkish and has elementary proficiency in Arabic.
